We Have Arrayah!

After waiting over a year, we finally have Arrayah! This Gotcha Day was different since we were the only family receiving a child, but it was just as special! We were able to spend more time with the Orphanage representative and ask questions about Arrayah's health. We are shocked at how tall Arrayah is. She is probably an inch taller than Anna. She is also VERY thin. She recently had the chicken pox and her legs and arms are covered in sores. Her arms and fingers are really long. Vivian, our adoption guide, keeps commenting on how gorgeous Arrayah is, we tend to agree! Arrayah did pretty good at the Registration Office and then after we returned to our hotel room to complete paperwork, she started crying. She has had a couple of crying spells that just breaks my heart. EVERYTHING has changed for her and she is just trying to take it all in and figure it out. At this point, she is very quiet, but at times will repeat "jie jie, mama, baba, mei mei." She even repeated "Bethany" which Beth was thrilled with. We have gotten a few smiles from her. She doesn't seem to be feeling well and is running a slight temperature, but she is eating good. We have had to be careful to not let her eat too much, or she would just eat until she is sick. She wouldn't close her eyes for a nap this afternoon, but she is finally asleep tonight. We are hoping after some sleep, she will feel better, physically and emotionally tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be a big day. We go back to the Registration Office to finalize the adoption and then will drive to Luoyang, the city where both Anna and Arrayah were born, to apply for Arrayah's passport. After that, we will tour the new orphanage that was recently built as well as going back to Maria's Big House of Hope. I hope Arrayah does ok tomorrow and that it is not upsetting to her. We did the tours with Anna, but we had an extra day in between for her to get use to us.
